Jay Taverner
It’s been an open secret in the lesbian community for years that historical novelist Jay Taverner is not one but two people: Jacky Bratton and Jane Traies, writing together. (Their fifty-year friendship is also a little piece of lesbian history.) They write fiction in an attempt to put women-loving women back into history. When they are not being Jay Taverner, Jacky writes academic books about cultural history and Jane uses oral history methods to uncover hidden lesbian lives. Jay Taverner’s recently-published Sapphic romance, Liberty, is the fourth in the ‘Brynsquilver’ series, joining Rebellion, Hearts and Minds and Something Wicked.
